It’s an easy out. A common excuse accepted as currency in the trade of reason.
I just don’t have time to _____.
We get it. We relate to it. There just isn’t enough time in the day! I mean who does have time to _____?
If we want to explain why we are lacking in a certain area, it’s our get out of jail free card. The middle space on the bingo card!
Except it’s not a valid excuse.
Everyone gets the same 24 hours in a day – equal footing. Everything comes down to time prioritization. Sure, there’s also a place for time efficiency, but you must understand your own level of time efficiency and prioritize accordingly.
If you want to accomplish something, if you want it to be a part of your life, you find the time by prioritizing it over other things.
If you don’t care about to make something a part of your life, it’s not that you don’t have the time – it’s that you don’t have the desire. You don’t care.
And that’s ok! You can’t care about everything. It’s a matter of priority.
So if you care, find the time. Wake up earlier, stay up later, don’t go to that event, stay in from the bar, or eat lunch at your desk.
You choose how you prioritize your time. You always have a choice.
