we ran a long way, but…

Jay Clouse deep thoughts, inspiration, motivation, stories

A few weeks ago, I went for a run with a good friend of mine. We live near to each other, and it’s easy to meet up and do this from time to time.

It’s great because we each get an opportunity to really reset. We can clear our mind through the magic of exercise and the magic of good ol’ fashioned venting.

We started running west, then a little bit south, then back east. We’d run for about 20 minutes when we realized we had absent-mindedly come back out to about the same point we started.

“We’ve run a long way to only be a block from my apartment,” I said.

Progress isn’t always unidirectional, nor is it always linear. Though you may not be far from your starting point, you could’ve covered a lot of valuable ground.
