It’s obvious why we put blinders on race horses. They have a singular goal and their odds of achieving that goal are highest when they are focused upon that goal (even if that focus is forced).
Those blinders are a system for keeping the horses focused. Yet another example of avoiding intrinsic motivation and setting the horse up for success.
Why is it so hard to do the same for ourselves?
Of course I don’t mean literally, but articles, videos, social media, podcasts, TV, going to the bar…they are all distractions. They are objects in the periphery that we could block out with our own blinders.
Be more like the race horse. Define your goal, put on your blinders, and run like hell.
